Spanish Wine Tasting

Join us this Thursday for a Spanish Wine tasting! This hand selected line up is a rare treat. We'll taste two lovely summer whites that you may/may not know about - Albarino & Verdejo. Then move onto three completely different Tempranillo reds, each one special in it's own right. Of course a Spanish bite of food will be provided.

Syncline Wine Cellars

This weekend join us for a seated tasting on Sunday. We'll be tasting the wines of Washington wine producer Syncline Wine Cellars. A small cult following has made this winery one to watch, we've always been fans. We'll taste their Rose, Roussane, Pinot Noir, Cuvee Elena, Syrah, & their Mouvedre. Did you notice they love Rhone varietals - just like us! We'll be pairing cheeses for each of the wines. This event will include a seat, please register so we can prepare. If you register by Friday the cost is $20, thereafter $25.

Never let be said you can't find a truly wonderful wine for under $15, this tasting will prove it. A casual tasting we will simply have several 'cheap' bottles open that are great fall to winter wines for your tasting. Come meet Marguerite Marceau Henderson on Saturday, July 28, at the Coupeville bayleaf from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

She's the author of Small Plates--Appetizers as Meals, Savor the Memories, and will share some secrets from her forthcoming (2008) cookbook, Small Parties--A Year of Menus for Gatherings of 2 to 12.

Marguerite's focus is on fresh ingredients, ease of preparation and visual appeal. That will be matched with bayleaf's selections of pasta, olive oils, cheeses, cured meats and specialty foods PLUS farm-fresh garlic, greens and goodies from Georgie Smith's Willowood Farm. We'll even be tasting some Italian wines in honor of Marguerite's Sicilian heritage. Marguerite will prepare and offer tastes of pasta salads and appetizers, most in the style of Italian antipasti.

Marguerite spends a few weeks in Coupeville each July for some much-needed R-and-R.

In bayleaf language, that could mean Rose and Ragout, or Romano and Rigatoni or... Ricotta and... ? ? ?

So, come and learn more. And share in Marguerite's enthusiasm and expertise for fine food and entertaining.

She's been teaching cooking classes, after all, for more than 25 years.
