Day 8 | 12 Days of Christmas | Holiday Sweets
Susan Wenzel • December 10, 2020
bayleaf may not have sugarplums this year, but we do have so many lovely sweets that it was almost too hard to choose only three. Yet, we selected a few of the most dreamy ones and nestled them snug inside a bayleaf wine bag.

First, we have Flower & White Rainbow Fruit Meringue Drops, a melt in your mouth confection straight from the country kitchens of Shropshire, England. Perfect for a snack or teatime or even as charming little cake toppers, these merry meringues are made with natural colors and free-range eggs and come in an assortment of (natural) enchanting flavors including strawberry, lemon, black cherry, and award-winning passion fruit.
Next is a traditional Nougat Tendre from Montelimar, France made with a few fine ingredients – egg whites, caramelized honey, toasted pistachios and almonds, and a touch of nostalgia. This soft and chewy nougat, sometimes known as torrone, from the Latin torrere (to toast), is an ancient Christmas candy nearly older than Santa Clause himself.
Last but surely not least is an exquisite treat from Pump Street chocolatiers, famed bakers and chocolate makers of Suffolk England lore. All of their chocolates are sustainable and fair trade and made in small, single-origin, bean to bar batches to create nothing short of superior quality products. For this sweet treat collection, we picked the Limited Edition 70% St Vincent Cocoa Cooperative Panettone bar. Inspired by the seasonal pastry, Panettone, it is chock full of candied fruit, rich vanilla, and Armagnac brandy and topped with almonds and sugar crystals.

Join us for a special seated tasting on Thursday, May 15 from 5–7 PM with Clarke Boehling of Rosenthal Wine Merchant While visiting trade accounts in the area, Clarke has carved out time to lead this intimate tasting—and we’re thrilled to host him. This is a rare chance to explore the Rosenthal portfolio through the eyes (and palate) of someone who knows it inside and out. Tickets here .

Fall Wine Extravaganza Join us for an afternoon of delicious wines! Unlike our tastings of the past, this will be more like what we call a "trade" tasting. Each rep will be stationed at a table with 4 of their wines - a mix of chilled whites/roses and reds. You are welcome to mingle, pose questions to the reps, bounce back and forth and taste at your own pace. We'll provide solo cups to encourage you to pace yourself and spit. We'll have staff passing bites of food to pair. We'll be joined by Eric, Jesse and Ken in the Coupeville Rec Hall. This will give us all plenty of room to spread out. There will be discounts offered, lots of conversations had and as much education as you would like. This is a standing, social tasting. Wine club members enjoy discounted ticket pricing as well as deeper discounts on orders at the event. Join one of our wine clubs before the event to take advantage of these extra discounts. You don't want to miss this one! A great opportunity to taste before you buy, restock your wine rack and choose a few special bottles for the upcoming holiday season.
