Day 2 | 12 Days of Christmas | Fish Feast

Susan Wenzel • December 2, 2020
three jars of food are sitting next to each other on a table .
If you haven’t heard, tinned fish is a real catch these days. And, we aren’t talking about your cat food looking, tuna casserole staple of yesteryear, either. Tinned fish has evolved into the sustainable, shelf-stable, seafood option that is the go-to of gourmets, foodies, and James Beard Award-winning chefs alike. Tinned fish is packed full of flavor and nutrition, has a long shelf life, and is handy to have around when you need to add a protein punch to salads, appetizer spreads, and pasta dishes. Tinned fish goes swimmingly with charred escarole, roasted fingerling potatoes, marinated fennel, or all three. Try some simply on toast or a hunk of Screamin’ Banshee bread. Or, grab a fork, pop open a can, and net yourself a scrumptious snack.

bayleaf has an incredible selection of tinned (and jarred) fish and other sea-fare, from the sashimi grade Island Trollers tuna to a killer Caesar salad upgrade – premium Ortiz olive oil packed anchovies. To simplify your selection though, we have scaled it back a bit. We know you will be hooked on this trio of house favorites – stocked in a bayleaf wine bag: Ritrovo Selections Tuna Chunks with Potatoes and Rosemary in Olive Oil (perfect for a quick niçoise style salad or tossed with white beans for a heart-healthy and satisfying main course), hand-packed Alaskan smoked salmon (the quintessential brunch bagel addon), and Olasagasti anchovy/sardine pâté (for a terrific tapas topper or a fine umami fin-ish).

Fall Wine Extravaganza Join us for an afternoon of delicious wines! Unlike our tastings of the past, this will be more like what we call a "trade" tasting. Each rep will be stationed at a table with 4 of their wines - a mix of chilled whites/roses and reds. You are welcome to mingle, pose questions to the reps, bounce back and forth and taste at your own pace. We'll provide solo cups to encourage you to pace yourself and spit. We'll have staff passing bites of food to pair. We'll be joined by Eric, Jesse and Ken in the Coupeville Rec Hall. This will give us all plenty of room to spread out. There will be discounts offered, lots of conversations had and as much education as you would like. This is a standing, social tasting. Wine club members enjoy discounted ticket pricing as well as deeper discounts on orders at the event. Join one of our wine clubs before the event to take advantage of these extra discounts. You don't want to miss this one! A great opportunity to taste before you buy, restock your wine rack and choose a few special bottles for the upcoming holiday season. Saturday 29 October 3 - 5 Coupeville Rec Hall tickets are required Non-wine Club member Wine Club member
